Child Find 

Child Find is a federal mandate under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). It requires local education agencies (LEAs), which include public school districts and charter schools, to identify, locate, and evaluate all children with disabilities residing within their jurisdictions who need special education and related services. (34 CFR §300.111), (Child Find, Evaluation and ARD Supports Network).

The Education Service Center Region 2 provides technical assistance and professional development to local education agencies and community stakeholders to assist in meeting federal, state and local mandates for special education evaluation and effective educational programming for all students.



  • Consultation regarding comprehensive student evaluations and testing methodologies
  • Assistance linking assessment personnel with materials needed to complete comprehensive student evaluations
  • Technical assistance with evaluation scoring and support with data interpretation
  • Support with school district compliance regarding the evaluation process and the ARD process in relation to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
  • Professional Development on special education and evaluation practices needed or requested throughout the region



Networking Opportunities 

Networking Evaluation Advisory Team (NEAT) Meetings

Evaluator networking meetings will be offered to give assessment personnel across the region an opportunity to network with one another regarding current evaluation practices and procedures. At these meetings, evaluation staff will receive updated guidance provided by the Evaluation Network addressing Child Find, Evaluation and ARD supports.
